Church History From Nero to Constantine

      by Charles Philip Stewart Clarke

      Excerpt

I find after writing it with these objects in view that the book seems to be marked by three special features.

      I. A far more considerable use is made of the so-called Church Orders, those early disciplinary manuals which Dr. Frere, Dom Conolly, and other scholars have done so much to elucidate, than has been done by any existing Church history, so far as my knowledge serves.
